Do you qualify as a Temporary Works Co-ordinator?

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) states:
'Temporary works are usually safety and business-critical and require careful co-ordination. An accepted way of achieving this is through the adoption of the management process outlined in BS5975 which introduces the Temporary Works Co-ordinator as a key figure.'

The Temporary Works Co-ordinator (TWC) is responsible for communicating, monitoring and controlling the allocation and safe execution of temporary works across a project.

Industry consensus has stipulated that knowledge of temporary works policy, detail of the BS5975 and the procedural controls described in the code are essential aspects of the role. To fulfil this requirement, the CITB specifies that all practicing TWCs hold CSkills Site Safety Plus Certification.

What does ICE Training offer?

In alignment with the industry standards, we run the CITB's two day Temporary Works Co-ordinator Training Course. It is designed for those on site who have the responsibility of managing all forms of temporary works, and covers the following key topics:

  • The processes of temporary works co-ordination
  • The duties of a TWC and the roles of others in a temporary works project
  • Temporary works policy and legal aspects
  • The detail of BS5975 and the procedural controls described in the Code

On successful completion of this training programme, you will be awarded CSkills Site Safety Plus certification and will be able to confidently apply temporary works processes as a practicing TWC.
The next available training date for this programme is 10 March. It will be held in London.
