The APM recognises that communications management touches every aspect of project management is a essential to project success. Learners will discover the key factors and fundamental elements that should be considered and addressed when managing communication within a project, including:

- Recognition of who needs to be communicated with
- The flow of communication
- Intended versus received messages
- Factors positively and negatively affecting communication
- Use of body language, tone and words
- Using the 5 C's in communication
- The structure and use of a communication plan
