NWED2015 - Supporting women in engineering

NWED2015 - Supporting women in engineering

Today is National Women in Engineering Day (NWED) 2015. It was set up in 2014 by the Women's Engineering Society (WES) to celebrate the Society's 95th anniversary. It's aim is to encourage government, educational, corporate and institutional groups to hold events that support and encourage women to choose careers in engineering.

TFL, for example, held a series of interactive, engineering themed workshops last week for school children, inspiring them to get involved in the practical and theoretical aspects of the profession. These events were used to celebrate womens' contributions to engineering, such as the construction of Waterloo Bridge during World War II for example.

ICE and ICE Training are fully in support of NWED 2015. We encourage more women to choose careers in engineering through offering knowledge resources and training for life-long professional development in construction and engineering. Whatever your sector, level of expertise or ambition in the profession, we can provide assured guidance throughout your career. We're taking today to remember that engineering is not just for boys - join us to celebrate and support NWED 2015!
