The APM defines project governance as the set of policies, regulations, functions, processes, procedures and responsibilities that define the establishment, management and control of projects, programmes and portfolios. Learners will examine the importance of project governance, the main governance areas, and the roles and responsibilites in ensuring governance is assured. Topics include:

  • Understanding the importance of project governance
  • What is governance and what are the benefits
  • The roles and responsibilities in project governance
  • The APM's 4-step governance process:
    • Portfolio Direction
    • Project Sponsorship
    • Project Management Effectiveness
    • Disclosure and Reporting
  • Implementing a project governance structure
