TRIZ turns good engineers into great engineers – and has been doing this for 20 years in Europe and much longer where the idea originated in Russia.

In just one day, this workshop will begin your TRIZ journey which is additional and complementary to all other toolkits you may use.

TRIZ completes other capabilities by uniquely directing you to strong solutions to your problems based on patent research distilled from past engineering successes. You will achieve great clarity of understanding about your problems and then be given clear directions to innovative and clever solutions.

In this one day training course, learn the main TRIZ tools for logical problem solving, resolving contradictions and conflicts, mapping future trends and technologies, understanding problem and solution context in time and scale and tools for cost reduction and elegant clever solutions.


Training courses on set dates, in ICE Training venues across the country. Suitable for those looking to attend a training course and share knowledge and practical experiences with like-minded others in an interactive learning environment.


Bespoke training programmes. These are delivered by our tutors at a time, in a location and based on a curriculum completely tailored to your needs. Ideal for organisations that have several employees wishing to take training in the same subject area, and/or have organisation-specific ideas for learning and development.

Programme Overview
This training course lasts for one day. It starts at 0930 and finishes at 17.00 with refreshment breaks mid-morning and afternoon, plus lunch.
All timings, except the start time, are approximate and may be adjusted to suit natural breaks in the lesson.

Karen Gadd

Thousands of engineers and scientists have learned TRIZ from Karen and her Oxford Creativity colleagues in the last seventeen years.  Karen is the founder of Oxford Creativity as well as teaching TRIZ in companies such as ABB, Airbus, BAE Systems, Bentley, Borealis, BNFL and many more.  Karen has selected and trained all the Oxford Creativity workshop leaders and developed all the Oxford Creativity materials.

Karen studied Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, and has an MBA from London Business School. After working in strategy and corporate planning in the City of London she returned to live in Oxford and was a tutor at Oxford's business school the European School of Management ESCP (based in Paris, Oxford, Madrid and Berlin). From 1995-2002 she was a Governor of Coventry University. Karen also founded and ran both MUSIC at OXFORD and the European Union Baroque Orchestra - these successful music organisations still flourish.

Karen has worked on nothing but TRIZ since discovering and learning its power to give us all the routes, to all the solutions, to all problems. In 1998 Karen started Oxford Creativity to concentrate on developing simple and practical TRIZ problem solving for the European market.
